Milton Glaser



Glaser Screening Notes:

  • Milton Glacier was born on June, 26 1929.
  • He attended Cooper Union Art School
    • Where he graduated in 1951. 
  • He then attended the Academy of fine Arts in Bologna (1952 to 1953)
  • Creator of "I <3 NY" logo
    • Successful logo because of simplicity and originality
    • A lot of his work is done in order to inform and enlighten
    • Made very little (if any) profits on this logo
  • Very well known graphic designer
    • He has design several album cover, book jackets, magazine illustration, prints and so on. 
  • Glaser's career consisted of wide variety of work
    • worked for Fortune magazine
      • designed renowned "fortune 5 hundred" logo
  • Used his drawing skills in his work:
    • Began drawing at an early age
    • Considered a way of understanding the world
  • His style resonated the generations he was involved in
    • "Bob Dylan" poster, with psychodelic qualities, reflects 60's generation
      • a favorite of that era
  • His love for food influenced alot of his work (fatty alert)
    • Designed/Redesigned supermarkets for years
    • Milton Glaser, Inc. made to work in restaurant designs, etc.
